Who doesn’t love a good upcycle project? These gorgeous gift bags by Shop Girl are actually made from pieces of old sweaters. These gift bags would be a great project for someone just learning to sew. However, if you don’t have a sewing machine, you could also hand stitch the pieces together pretty quickly, or use a hot glue gun. To save a little time, you could cut off pieces of the sleeves and then fold together the bottom and glue or stitch it together. You could use a sweater that doesn’t fit anymore, one that has a stain or a hole in it somewhere, or even browse thrift stores for knit sweaters with interesting patterns. And of course, don’t forget the embellishments. The simple red bow, pine cone, and piece of a fir tree are classic and beautiful for Christmas.
